Hand Cane: Strands of cane hand woven through the holes in the chair seat or back. A six step process concluding with the familiar octagon shaped holes.
Pressed Cane: Prewoven cane put in the groove in the frame held in by spline.
Blind Weave: Hand woven into the frame when the holes do not go tall the way through the frame. Therefore, each hole is pegged during weaving.
Flat Weave: A flat reed cane woven by hand in different patterns, usually a herringbone design.
Rush: A fiber material woven around the frame of the chair or back coming to a point in the center. Most rush chairs are ladderback chairs.
